IP waterproof test method

In industrial production, especially electronic and electrical products, there will be different levels of dustproof and waterproof requirements for equipment. The shell protection level (IP code / dustproof and waterproof) of the automation instrument equipment is an important indicator to ensure the normal operation of the equipment and the safety and reliability of the product.

Graded waterproof

⑴IPX 1

Method Name: Vertical drip test

Test equipment: drip test device

Specimen placement: Place the sample on a rotating sample table at 1r/min according to the normal working position of the specimen, and the distance from the top of the sample to the drip is not more than 200mm

Test conditions: Drip water is 1.0±0.5mm/min

Duration: 10 min

⑵IPX 2

Method Name: Tilt 15° drip test

Test equipment: drip test device

Specimen placement: Make one face of the specimen at a 15° angle to the vertical line, and the distance from the top of the sample to the drip is not more than 200mm. After each test, switch to another side, a total of four times.

Test conditions: Drip water is 3.0±0.5 mm/min

Duration: 4×2.5 min (total 10 min)

⑶IPX 3

Method name: Water test

Test Method:

a pendulum tubular water shower test

Test equipment: pendulum tubular water splash test device

Specimen placement: Select the appropriate radius of the pendulum tube, so that the height of the sample table is in the position of the diameter of the pendulum tube, put the specimen on the sample table, so that the distance from the top to the sample spout is not more than 200mm, and the sample table does not rotate.

Test conditions: The water flow is calculated according to the number of spray holes of the pendulum tube, each hole is 0.07 L/min, when pouring water, the spray water in the spray holes in the 60° arc section on each side of the midpoint of the pendulum tube is sprayed to the sample. The sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube. The pendulum tube oscillates 60° on each side of the vertical line for a total of 120°. Each swing (2×120°) is about 4s

Test time: continuous water for 10 min

b Sprinkler type water test

Test equipment: handheld splash test device

Specimen placement: Make the parallel distance from the top of the test to the handheld sprinkler spout between 300mm and 500mm

Test conditions: A baffle with a counterweight should be installed during the test, and the water flow rate is 10 L/min

Test time: Calculated according to the surface area of the shell of the sample to be inspected, 1 min per square meter (excluding the installation area), less than 5 min

⑷IPX 4

Method Name: Splash water test

Test Method:

a. Swing pipe splash test

Test equipment and specimen placement: identical to ipx 3 paragraph (a) above;

Test conditions: Except for the conditions described below, they are the same as those in IPX 3 paragraph a above; the spray area is the spray water spray of water spray holes in 90° arcs on each side of the midpoint of the pendulum tube to the sample. The sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube. The pendulum tube oscillates 180° on each side of the vertical line, for a total of about 360°. Each swing (2×360°) is about 12s

Test time: Same as ipx 3 paragraph a above (i.e. 10 min).

b. Sprinkler type splash test

Test equipment and specimen placement: the same as in paragraph b of IPX 3 above;

Test conditions: Remove the baffle with a counterweight installed on the equipment, and the rest are the same as the above IPX 3 paragraph b;

Test time: the same as the IPX 3 paragraph b above, i.e. less than 5 min per square meter (excluding the installation area) based on the surface area of the shell of the sample being inspected

⑸IPX 5

Method name: Water spray test

Test equipment: The inner diameter of the nozzle is 6.3mm

Test conditions: the distance between the test sample and the water spray port is 2.5m ~ 3m, and the water flow rate is 12.5 L/min (750 L/h)

Test time: 1 min per square meter (excluding installation area) less than 3 min per square meter based on the surface area of the shell of the sample to be inspected

⑹IPX 6

Method name: Intense water spray test;

Test equipment: The inner diameter of the nozzle is 12.5 mm

Test conditions: the distance between the test sample and the water spray port is 2.5m ~ 3m, and the water flow rate is 100 L/min (6000 L/h)

Test time: 1 min per square meter (excluding installation area) is less than 3 min per square meter based on the surface area of the shell of the sample to be inspected

⑺IPX 7

Method Name: Short-term immersion test

Test equipment and test conditions: flooding tank. Its size should be such that after the specimen is placed in the immersion tank, the distance from the bottom of the sample to the surface of the water is less than 1m. The distance from the top of the specimen to the surface of the water is less than 0.15m

Test time: 30 min

⑻IPX 8

Method Name: Continuous Dive Test;

Test conditions and test times of the test equipment: Agreed by the supply and demand (buyer and seller) parties, the severity should be higher than that of IPX 7.

For the waterproof performance test of the product, the more traditional method is to use the water test. This method is undoubtedly a direct method, but the disadvantages of low efficiency, component contamination, subjective judgment, and inability to measure the leakage value make it unsuitable for batch detection and precision detection during online production in factories. At present, the Pascot eight-channel air tightness tester (also known as the waterproof detector) is very suitable for batch online inspection of waterproof testing of electronic factory products.

Pasco airtight tester, with compressed air as the detection medium, respectively, the detection end and the standard end (fully sealed) are filled with a certain pressure gas, after balancing for a period of time, observe the pressure change at the detection end, if there is a leak in the detection workpiece, the pressure at the detection end is reduced, and the size of the leakage is judged, and the workpiece is qualified or not according to the judgment standard.
